How much does the E&S Systems Maintenance ECS Card cost?

Our ECSApply support fee is £99 + VAT to help you prepare and submit your application. ECS may also charge separate card and administration fees (often around £244 + VAT for the full ECS card process), plus any test fees for the ECS HSE assessment.

What systems does the E&S Systems Maintenance ECS Card cover?

This card is aimed at maintenance engineers working on fire detection and alarm systems, emergency lighting, intruder alarms, access control, CCTV and other emergency & security systems defined within the FESS framework.

How long does the application process take?

Once we have all required documents and your ECS application is submitted, cards are typically processed and dispatched within 15–20 working days. Incomplete or incorrect information can cause delays, so checking everything carefully is important.

What is the difference between the Maintenance and Commissioning E&S ECS Cards?

The Maintenance card focuses on servicing, fault-finding and repairing existing systems, whereas the Commissioning card is aimed at engineers responsible for testing, certifying and handing over newly installed systems. Both sit under the FESS structure but reflect different job roles and qualifications.

Can I renew my card before it expires?

Yes. You can usually renew up to 6 months before the expiry date. We recommend starting the renewal process early to keep site access and client requirements fully compliant, especially if your ECS HSE assessment also needs updating.
