Booking your ECS card online should be quick, as long as you know which service you need and have the right details to hand. This guide explains the options and shows exactly how to get through the process without delays.

Step 1: Choose the right service

The most common reason bookings go wrong is picking the wrong route at the start. Use this table to find yours.

Step 2: Gather what you need

Personal details: full name as it appears on your ID, date of birth, address, phone number and email
Identification: a clear copy of valid photo ID
Photo: a recent head-and-shoulders photo with a plain background
Qualification evidence: certificates or training records relevant to your card
Existing card number (for renewals and replacements)

Step 3: Complete the online booking

Open the booking page for your service and select your card or test.
Fill in your personal details carefully. Spelling errors are the most common cause of follow-up emails.
Upload your ID document and photo where asked. Use well-lit images and make sure all four corners of documents are visible.
Check the summary, then submit.

What happens after you book

You should receive a confirmation email once your booking is submitted. If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check your spam folder and then contact our support team with the email address you used. From there, the next stage depends on your route: you may need to sit the HS&E assessment (remotely or at a test centre) and then complete your card application with the result.
